Find a licensing partner

Find a licensing partner

In order to bring your technology to market, the lead partner will manage negotiations with an existing industrial partner regarding the licence. This is the licensing pathway of the valorization process.

The first step is often a market study to identify companies in the sector and evaluate the technology’s value. The second step is a business development and outreach effort led by a business development manager. This manager will help you connect with stakeholders and engage in broader discussions to reach an agreement for the technology transfer.

Market study

Personalized support is available to maximize the potential of innovations and define an appropriate transfer strategy.

Depending on the technology's readiness level (TRL), field of application, and regulatory complexity, the study may be conducted internally by the technology transfer team or in collaboration with specialized consulting firms.

The market study includes, in particular:

  • Target market analysis: Current and projected market size, growth dynamics, segmentation (indications, geographies, user types), and technological and scientific trends.
  • Competitive landscape mapping: Existing and emerging solutions, level of maturity, technological differentiation, and relative strengths and weaknesses.
  • Identification of unmet needs and strategic positioning opportunities.

The objective is to provide your team with a clear, evidence-based understanding of the socioeconomic potential of your innovation. This will help inform strategic decisions and maximize the success of your technology transfer.

Business development, promotion, and partnerships

Developing a business development plan for your technology

You have developed innovative technology that is protected by intellectual property rights, and you would like to find a company that can exploit or co-commercialize it. The PSL Innovation Hub can support you throughout this commercialization process by helping you at each step: research, identify, and connect with strategic industrial partners in France and internationally, across all scientific fields.

A business development manager from the cluster will work with you and support you throughout each stage of the outreach and partnership process by:

  • Mapping relevant companies based on your technology and the strategy defined beforehand: large industrial groups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), startups, etc.
  • Promoting your technology at professional technology trade shows and Innovation Days organized by the PSL Innovation Hub.
  • Qualifying prospective partners based on their technological positioning, innovation portfolio, R&D investment strategy, and partnership capabilities.
  • Connecting your research team with targeted industrial partners to initiate discussions about a potential partnership.

Promotion through technology showcases

The PSL Innovation Hub can also showcase your projects online. These showcases can benefit from year-round exposure by leveraging traffic to institutional websites. Following a joint discussion, we can create a technology profile that summarizes the key strengths of your technology and then feature it on:
  • The Tech-365.fr platform aims to provide year-round, direct, simple, and fast access for all types of companies—very small businesses (TPEs), small and medium-sized enterprises (PMEs), mid-sized companies (ETIs), startups, and large corporations—to the best innovations emerging from French public research. Available online and by subscription, the platform is continuously updated and provides the experience of a dynamic "marketplace". To date, Tech-365 has a catalog of more than 600 technologies representing the latest breakthrough innovations at various levels of maturity.
